Editorial policy
Where the listings come from
Every listing is a licensed treatment program taken from the SAMHSA national treatment locator, which is public US government data.
SAMHSA does not record pet policies and does not name individual insurance carriers. We take those details from each facility's own website.
How we label what we know
Every detail on a profile shows where it came from.
- Confirmed — we checked with the facility.
- From the facility's website — we quote the page, link to it, and show the date we read it.
- Unconfirmed — nobody has checked yet.
Unconfirmed does not mean no. We only show a facility as refusing pets when it says so itself.
Photographs and maps
If a listing has a photograph, the facility supplied it. Where we do not have one, we show a map of the surrounding area instead, or a plain tile when we do not have an address. We do not use stock photographs of other buildings.
Maps are made by Geoapify using OpenStreetMap data.
Advertising
We will say so on the page if a listing is sponsored, or if we are paid when you contact a facility.
This is not medical advice
Insurance coverage and pet policies change without notice. Check both with the facility and with your insurer before you travel or admit.
